The rectangular opaline bottle is richly decorated with applied bronze doré scrollwork and fitted with an ornate collar and decorative covered stopper. The surrounding stand is particularly striking, with a tall arched handle, pierced foliate ornament, sculptural figural supports, and intricate openwork throughout.
The contrast of milky white opaline against the richly aged gilded bronze gives the piece remarkable presence. Both functional and highly decorative, it is a beautiful example of 19th-century French decorative arts.
