Measuring … Read more This vintage rug is hand-knotted in fine kork wool, woven in Afghanistan in the Shirvan Caucasian tribal design tradition. Measuring 9'1" x 13'0" (277 x 396 cm), the indigo field is filled with a lattice of diamond-shaped compartments, each centered on a stylized tree-of-life motif in cream and salmon, interspersed with small human and animal figures characteristic of Caucasian tribal weaving. A wide sky-blue border carries a row of serrated star medallions, framed by ivory guard bands of compartmented rosettes and figures, with an outer maroon border of small animal motifs. The kork wool pile has a notably soft, fine hand. Finished with ivory fringe at both ends, in good, presentable condition. A striking room-size rug for a living room or dining room. See less
