Late Nineteenth early Twentieth Century. Superbly cast and wonderfully detailed with a medium brown patination. Complete with its original lightly veined marble platform rectangular base.

Together with a model of the Sacre-Couer Basilica also beautifully cast in bronze with similar veined marble base.

Condition: Both items in good untouched condition with nice surface patination, professionally cleaned and black baise replaced underneath.

L’Arc de Triomphe was created by Architects Jean-Francois Therese Chalgrin and Jean-Arnaud Raymond, took thirty years to build from 1806 to 1836.

Built to commemorate French soldiers that had died in the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, the imposing arch, completed in 1836 under the rule of Louis Phillipe, became a highlight stop for individuals on the Grand Tour in the second half of the 19th century. See less
