This vintage Persian - Style carpet showcases the celebrated "hunting design" tradition — a richly detailed genre tracing back to 16th-century Safavid court carpets.
A scalloped central medallion in gold, rose, and ivory anchors a deep navy field alive with dense floral arabesque, palmettes, and vine-work, punctuated by small cartouches depicting mounted hunters, deer, and birds in motion.
The corner spandrels echo the medallion's palette and botanical detail, while a rich rust-red main border of interlocking blossoms and scrolling vine is framed by a pale ivory guard band and a narrow salmon outer stripe.
The fine, tightly clipped weave and lustrous wool give the piece a jewel-like density of pattern up close, while the navy-and-rose colorway reads warm and traditional from across a room. Ivory fringe finishes both ends. This is a rug for a room that wants a true showpiece — a formal dining room, library, or entry where its intricacy can be appreciated.
