Handsome pair of Chapman Manufacturing candlestick table lamps featuring sculptural barley-twist columns, warm antiqued brass-tone finishes, ivory candle-style sleeves, and striking black empire shades with dramatic mottled metallic gold-and-black foil interiors.
Each lamp is anchored by a substantial multi-stepped circular base rising to an open barley-twist stem with turned detailing. The tall, slender proportions give the lamps the character of traditional buffet or candlestick lamps while the sculptural barley-twist columns add architectural interest.
The shades are a particular highlight. Their understated black exteriors conceal richly mottled metallic gold-and-black foil interiors, which reflect the light to produce a warm, amber-toned atmospheric glow when illuminated. The flashes of gold visible beneath the shades beautifully complement the aged brass-tone lamp bodies.
Both lamps retain factory-labeled sockets bearing “© 2001 CHAPMAN ALL RIGHTS RESERVED” labels.
The coordinating black empire shades are nearly identical but have a slight variation in height: one measures approximately 9.25 inches high and the other approximately 8.75 inches high. Both measure approximately 14 inches in diameter. One shade also exhibits faint shiny markings on its black exterior. The gold-mottled interiors remain especially attractive.
With their classic Chapman styling, barley-twist forms and dramatic metallic-lined shades, this pair would be particularly handsome on a buffet, entry console, library table, nightstands or matching end tables.

Brass-tone surfaces exhibit attractive patina along with scattered oxidation/spotting, light scratches, rubbing, discoloration and finish variation. One finial has a noticeable area of finish loss/discoloration. The coordinating black empire shades show light age- and use-related surface wear. One shade has faint shiny black markings visible on the exterior. And one shade has a few dots of paint splatter. The shades vary slightly in height, measuring approximately 9.25 inches and 8.75 inches high, respectively; both measure approximately 14 inches in diameter. Their distinctive mottled metallic gold-and-black foil interiors present particularly well. Both lamps are currently operational.
