Here is a fabulous large-scale abstract ribbon sculpture by Curtis Jeré, signed and dated 1975. Standing over 38 inches tall, the sculpture features a sweeping brushed silver metal ribbon that curves dramatically upward into a fluid loop, accented by a suspended brass sphere.
The sweeping composition gives the piece a wonderful sense of movement and balance, changing considerably depending on the angle from which it is viewed. The sculptural portion rests on a central pivot and can be manually rotated to display it in different orientations. It also lifts completely from the substantial black marble base.
It is bold, playful, beautifully executed, and just incredibly cool. A collector's treasure and a stylist's best friend, it would be equally fantastic in a modern space or as an unexpected counterpoint in a traditional room.
