Spectacular Mid-Century Murano art glass folded bowl in emerald green with abundant copper aventurine flecks.
This large 10-inch biomorphic clamshell bowl was hand-blown in Murano, Italy circa 1950s-1960s and is attributed to Fratelli Toso / Alfredo Barbini studio. The thick cased glass is a deep jewel-tone green encased in clear, with profuse gold / copper aventurine inclusions that glitter in any light. The rim is hand-folded and pinched to create an elegant, organic, undulating form - often referred to as a cigar rest, clam bowl, or vide-poche.
A wonderful centerpiece, catch-all, or jewelry bowl. The heavy aventurine sparkles beautifully in sunlight.
