$1,000 — Vintage Mid-Century Modern
Beautiful and exceptionally well-preserved Florence Knoll two-tier pivoting letter tray, manufactured by Knoll Associates, Inc. This iconic desk accessory was designed by Florence Knoll in 1948 and is believed to date from the 1950s.
The tray is constructed of beautifully grained molded walnut plywood with two tiers that pivot on the original central metal post. The sculptural curved edges and clean, minimalist lines are classic Florence Knoll and quintessential American Mid-Century Modern design.
Exceptional Condition
This example is in remarkably clean, original-looking condition for its age. The walnut has a beautiful, rich finish and the trays, edges, corners and pivot mechanism are exceptionally well preserved. No significant scratches, chips, stains or noticeable wear are apparent.
The underside retains its original Knoll Associates, Inc. manufacturer’s label, including the historic:
