1950s George Nelson for Herman Miller Basic Cabinet Series (BCS) double-door credenza. Crafted in warm walnut, this early modernist design features rare bent steel wire "X" pulls (cross pulls), black metal hairpin legs, and the original red and silver foil Herman Miller Zeeland, Michigan manufacturer label on the interior partition.
The interior features split storage. The right bay includes two pull-out solid wood trays, with an upper divided organizer tray and an open lower tray above an open base section. The left bay is an open full-height compartment (original adjustable shelves are missing), making it ideally sized for vinyl records, tall bar bottles, or audio equipment.
This is an original project piece ideal for restoration, though it remains structurally solid and fully functional for immediate use as-is. The back panel behind the left bay was historically cut out, which conveniently accommodates audio cables and media cords. Condition shows vintage character throughout: finish scratches, scuffs, veneer chipping along the lower front edge, staining on the interior base panel, and age-appropriate oxidation on the metal pulls and hairpin legs.
