This … Read more A striking and beautifully preserved 1945 Georgian Revival mahogany cabinet, custom-ordered through J.H. Biggar Furniture showroom of Pasadena, California. This exceptional piece stands as a unified, one-piece structural build, showcasing seamless vertical lines, an elegant plinth base and traditional American craftsmanship at its finest.


The upper cabinet features Gothic-style diamond wood mullions over pristine glass doors, crowned by an intricate band of geometric blind fretwork along the frieze. The lower cabinet offers ample storage with two smooth-gliding drawers and a spacious two-lower cupboard, highlighted by rich book-matched crotch mahogany veneers that catch light beautifully.

Affixed to the raw wood back panel is the original, intact factory production page from Rway Furniture Company (previously Northern Furniture Co.) It is hand scribed with the retailer name "J.H. Biggar" and stamped with pattern number 2439 and bears a warehouse receipt of February 27, 1945. It was completed just months before the end of WWII. The cabinet represents a rare survivor from an era of strict wartime material rationing.

The cabinet has all of the original hardware and pulls which are not brass due to wartime rations (as in the last two photos of the drawers). Also included are exact replica brass pulls that were matched to the exact dimensions and styling of the original 1945 hardware. Structurally sound, stable and in excellent vintage condition with minor age-appropriate wear consistent with its 80 year history. Clean interior shelves.
