Antique Rajasthan style Hindu bust. Carved stone Apsara or Devata statue. Devatas and Apsaras are divine or semi-divine female beings in Hindu and Buddhist mythology, frequently depicted in classical Southeast Asian art and architecture. Apsaras are celestial dancers or water nymphs who entertain the gods, while Devatas are broader guardian goddesses or sacred female spirits enshrined in temples.
The figure features a meticulously carved, large coiffed bun at the back of the head, heavy circular disc earrings, and multiple layers of beaded necklaces resting across her chest. Sets upon a black metal stand that is removable. The bust could be placed without stand, but is slightly wobbly and would need to be somewhere secure.
Measures 8" tall x 5 1/2" x 4", not including stand. Weighs 7.3 pounds.
Measures 11" tall on stand.
