A proud 19th century neoclassical urn which features a traditional gadrooned body with egg and dart detailing to the rim. This beautiful glazed stoneware urn is of excellent proportions and complemented in a cream salt glaze finish. The finish gives the urn a wonderful orange peel like texture to the outer skin. The urn is in two parts and raised on a grooved socle and finished on square base in the same finish. This urn is attributed to the leeds fire clay company and carries all of the hallmarks of the leading specialist manufacturers of glazed architectural ceramic products of the late 19th century. Wonderful in size and strong in presence. A real gem of an urn! english, circa 1890.
