The curved backrest, the continuous cane webbing, and the contrasting darkened nodes create a clearly proportioned, cohesive piece of furniture. Historical Context: Furniture with a bamboo look dates back to the European chinoiserie and colonial furniture tradition of the 19th century, in which light, airy seating was valued for salons, conservatories, and verandas. Since real bamboo has limited structural strength, the characteristic nodes were often replicated in turned hardwood – so-called faux bamboo. In the second half of the 20th century, this design language experienced a widespread revival when woven furniture, reflecting the renewed interest in light, decorative interior design styles, found its way back into living rooms and reception areas. Features – Backrest, sides, and seat fully upholstered in Viennese cane webbing – Turned faux bamboo nodes with contrasting dark finish on backrest, frame, and legs. Design: The armchair follows the design language of the Anglo-colonial style with hints of the English Regency: a semi-circular, sloping armrest line, curved legs, and an arched, braced frame. The bamboo imitation is consistently designed – the twisted nodes divide the frame into regular sections, while the fine weave lends the piece visual lightness. The high-gloss finish emphasizes the lines and the warm color gradient of the wood. Dimensions: Height 85 × Width 58 × Depth 50 cm, Seat height 40 cm. Material and condition: Solid beech, high-gloss finish, Viennese cane webbing. Very good, well-maintained condition with only minor signs of wear.
