This iconic armchair, designed by the prominent Czechoslovak designer Jan Vaněk during the 1930s, represents an extraordinary example of interwar avant-garde creation that carries the unmistakable legacy of the Art Deco style. The aesthetics of the armchair are based on a precisely designed and craft-valued bent beech wood structure that combines elegant arched curves with a maximum emphasis on functionality. The overall design concept underlines the purity of the material and reflects the progressive thinking of the period's housing culture.
The exceptional nature of this piece also lies in the fact that it has survived in its original and very well-preserved condition, which represents a rarity for furniture from this period and significantly increases its historical authenticity. Every detail of the structure bears the traces of honest First Republic carpentry work that has stood the test of time without the need for radical interventions. The preserved state of the wooden parts thus directly contributes to the overall collector appeal and the unique character of the entire object.
Thanks to the combination of a renowned designer's signature, documented Czechoslovak origin, and excellent preserved condition, this armchair holds high aesthetic and market value. In a contemporary interior, it will become not only a fully functional solitaire for comfortable seating, but above all a distinctive design element that gives the space an unrepeatable touch of elegance and historical depth. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
