Seated Buddha figure executed in gilt bronze with a meditative pose, detailed ornamental drapery and a decorative base. The surface retains traces of gilding and displays a naturally developed dark patina. Origin: Asia. Material: Gilt bronze. Dimensions: H. 17 cm, D. 8 cm, L. 11 cm. Period: 19th century. Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear. Gilt bronze Buddha figures have played a central role in Buddhist art throughout Asia for centuries. The figures were created according to traditional iconographic principles, in which posture, hand gestures and clothing carried symbolic meaning.
