Each plate features the exuberant palette characteristic of Rose Medallion porcelain, with vivid famille rose enamels in shades of pink, green, orange, blue, and gilt.

The surfaces are arranged in alternating reserves depicting traditional Chinese court and domestic scenes alongside lush compositions of peonies, foliage, birds, butterflies, and fruit. Ornate green scrolling borders and gilt accents tie the individual scenes together, while the shaped scalloped edges give the plates an especially decorative silhouette.

Each plate is individually hand painted, resulting in subtle variations in the figures, flowers, and detailing that add to the charm of the set. The unmarked white porcelain backs and overall decoration are consistent with Chinese export Rose Medallion wares.

Beautiful displayed together on a wall, arranged in a plate rack, or layered into a collected tabletop. Their saturated color and graphic scalloped form make them equally appealing in traditional and more contemporary interiors.
