A beautiful 1978 Farnum Nantucket Lightship Basket, featuring finely handwoven construction, a warm wooden base and lid, and a tall swing handle.
Particularly special is the double-sided Ivoryite scrimshaw. The exterior depicts sailing ships passing a coastal lighthouse, while opening the lid reveals a second maritime harbor scene with tall ships. The basket retains its original Farnum / Tropical Enterprises label and is signed “Farnum” to the underside.
A wonderful early Farnum example with rich patina and classic New England maritime character.
Dimensions: 10.5" H x 7.75" W x 6" D; basket body 7" H.
Condition Report: Excellent vintage condition.
Maker’s Mark: Signed “Farnum” to base. Original Tropical Enterprises Inc. label dated 10/24/78.
