The circular, low-profile form features a … Read more A wonderfully unusual vintage solid brass covered ashtray, dating to approximately the mid-20th century. The circular, low-profile form features a hinged lid and three sculptural sunburst-form cigarette rests arranged around the interior. A small cross-form handle projects from the side, lending the piece an especially distinctive decorative character.

When closed, the ashtray becomes a handsome brass object for a coffee table, desk, bar, or library, neatly concealing its original function. The combination of polished brass, geometric sunbursts, and the cross-form handle gives the piece a slightly Mediterranean, ecclesiastical, and Hollywood Regency sensibility.

The underside of the hinged lid is stamped “102.” Maker and country of origin are unknown.

Measures approximately 5" W × 5.5" D × 1.5" H.

Good vintage condition with surface wear, oxidation, discoloration, and patina consistent with age and use, as shown. The brass has been left with its existing vintage character.
