Executed in … Read more An exceptional early 20th-century Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts mahogany display case featuring exquisite mixed-metal and mother-of-pearl corner inlays. Executed in rich mahogany with a deep, lustrous grain finish, the case boasts classic organic whiplash and botanical inlay motifs combining copper, pewter/brass, and iridescent mother-of-pearl accents. The interior has been refreshed with a luxurious crimson red cotton velvet lining, providing a striking high-contrast backdrop for fine porcelain, collectibles, or jewelry display. Fitted with rare period hardware, including an original "English Lever" lock and "Hodges Patent" hinges. Restoration Details:
This piece has undergone a meticulous, archival-quality restoration to preserve its historic integrity.

• Inlay Restoration: The delicate botanical inlay was carefully repaired by hand. A tiny missing copper accent on the right side of one central floral bud was custom-crafted using period-accurate, hand-hammered and filed copper wire, fitted flush to match the original design seamlessly.

• Finish & Wood Care: The mahogany frame was deeply cleaned and conditioned with a hand-rubbed finish to eliminate cloudiness and revive its natural depth and warm glow.

• Interior: The aged lining was replaced with a premium crimson velvet base layer.

• Hardware: Original mechanical hinges and lock mechanism were preserved, cleaned and fully functional. A replacement key was found, so it can be secured. See less
