A carved tab at the top marks where the door once fit its frame. What sets this piece apart is the degree of softening in the carved lines themselves — edges that would have been carved sharp and crisp have worn round and smooth over what appears to be a considerable span of use, a wear pattern that, together with the depth of the patina, points toward an earlier date than much of the rest of the collection, possibly extending into the 19th century, though this remains an estimate without documented provenance.
