Hand-painted … Read more An exceptional late 18th-century Chinese Export porcelain small serving platter or underplate dating to the Qianlong period (circa 1770–1785). Hand-painted in Jingdezhen for the Western market, this piece features a vibrant famille rose polychrome enamel palette.

The center of the well is decorated with a detailed floral bouquet dominated by a large pink rose, surrounded by delicate secondary sprays and purple blooms. The complex border features a highly desirable pink scale (or cell-diaper) pattern, punctuated by alternating reserves of turquoise-enameled network/diaper-work and iron-red floral medallions. The rim is elegantly potted with a subtly scalloped, octagonal profile.

The reverse features a broad, flat, completely unglazed base with characteristic firing specks and texture, consistent with authentic period production techniques.

The small platter measures about 10 x 7 inches.
