Fantastic studio bronze figural sculpture. This typifies the qualities of the brutalist movement: raw, heavy materials symbolizing strength. It also has a wonderful sense of both movement and restraint. You can feel the tension between the figure and the pole with which he is both struggling and becoming. It does what good art always does… leaves you pondering.
Unsigned however this was clearly made by someone with artistic talent and skill. Base is finished wood.
