A large-format screenprint by British illustrator Jock (Mark Simpson), produced in 2015 as a commissioned edition inspired by Francis Ford Coppola’s landmark film Apocalypse Now (1979).
Rendered in a dramatic monochromatic red palette, the composition depicts a formation of helicopters advancing across a burning horizon, evoking the psychological tension and cinematic scale that define the film.
Jock is internationally recognised for his distinctive graphic language, combining bold silhouette, disciplined composition and controlled tonal contrast. His work spans comics, film poster design and limited-edition printmaking, and he is widely regarded as one of the leading figures within the contemporary Alternative Movie Poster movement.
Originally commissioned by a private collector group rather than released through conventional commercial channels, the print forms part of a highly regarded body of film-inspired screenprints that helped establish Jock’s reputation among collectors of contemporary poster art.
This example is hand-signed and numbered AP 11/35 in pencil by the artist.
