Issued by the German and Austrian Alpine Association, these finely printed plates illustrate a fascinating selection of flowering plants native to the Alpine regions of Central Europe, combining scientific precision with refined decorative appeal. Produced under the scientific editorship of Dr. Palla of the University of Graz, the illustrations were based on original botanical studies by the renowned Austrian artist Anton Hartinger and reproduced using the advanced photolithographic process developed by Nenke & Ostermaier of Dresden. The publication remains one of the finest botanical atlases devoted to Alpine flora of the late nineteenth century. The set includes the following species: Digitalis ambigua (Yellow Foxglove) Erinus alpinus (Alpine Balsam) Melampyrum silvaticum (Small Cow-wheat) Tozzia alpina (Alpine Tozzia) Euphrasia salisburgensis (Salzburg Eyebright) Euphrasia minima (Dwarf Eyebright) Bartschia alpina (Alpine Bartsia) Alectorolophus lanceolatus (Lance-leaved Yellow-rattle) Together these plates present a diverse collection of Alpine wildflowers, including foxgloves, eyebrights, parasitic meadow plants, and several rare mountain species found throughout the European Alps. Their soft chromolithographic colors and elegant compositions make them equally attractive as botanical studies and decorative works of art. Each print retains its original German title together with habitat and flowering information, providing valuable historical and scientific context. Displayed together in two rows of four, they create a sophisticated botanical gallery wall that complements both traditional and contemporary interiors. These intimate-format prints are particularly effective when mounted with generous ivory museum mats and slim walnut, bronze, or black frames, making them ideal for libraries, studies, country houses, mountain chalets, or modern homes seeking authentic nineteenth-century botanical artwork. This is a set of eight original antique prints. Any framed or interior images are for inspiration only. The prints are sold unframed and small seized.
