A light-hearted portrait painting of a smiling woman, in what is clearly a designer dress, by a well-known and noted painter. Joseph Margulies was born in Vienna, Austria. He later became a distinguished and well-known portrait and landscape painter while he a resident of New York City. He received his formal training at the National Academy of Design, Cooper Union, as well as the Art Students League and continued his studies abroad in Paris, Vienna and Rome.

This portrait is a very good example of his portrait commissions. This work is oil/canvas and is signed. It likely dates from the 1950's-60's. See less
