Our research did not identify either the creator nor the setting, but it is thought to be of European origin based on the architecture, landscape, and clothing. Possibly northern European as Dutch colonists learned the Javanese and associated batik techniques through their multi-century colonization of the Indonesian region. A lovely naïve art piece skillfully rendered in the batik technique of dyeing.

Professionally framed and glazed with non-glare glass; light cream mat features a thin red pinstrip and 3/4" slightly darker cream border around the image. Ready to hang.

Dimensions: overall, 28.75"w x 1.5"d x 25.25"h; image, 19"w x 15"h.

Excellent vintage condition with vibrant colors, no scratches, minor frame wear.
