A stepped temple or pavilion rises above a black-and-ivory checkerboard platform, flanked by tall column-like forms topped with rounded globes. Below, a hammer and cluster of stones introduce additional emblematic imagery, while the upper field contains stars, a crescent moon, a radiant sun, intertwined cords, geometric knots, and small architectural devices. The restrained palette of blue, red, ivory, tan, grey, brown, and black gives the imagery strong graphic clarity. A bold red border of linked rectangular compartments frames the scene and reinforces its architectural character. Blending folk symbolism with Art Deco abstraction, the rug has the appearance of a woven pictorial panel, balancing symmetry, narrative detail, and modern geometry within an imaginative, theatrical design. Its compact format and distinctive iconography give it a memorable decorative presence.
