Marcel Mouly (French, 1918–2008), "Les Maisons dans la Vallée," original color lithograph on paper, pencil-signed lower right and numbered 88/300 lower left.
A sunset landscape in Mouly's signature Fauvist palette, banded fields of orange, crimson, green, and blue framed between two dark vertical trees, with a distant farmhouse and hills beyond. Mouly came up through the postwar École de Paris alongside Picasso, Matisse, and Braque; his work is held in the permanent collections of more than 20 museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. He was named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres in 1957 and received the Premier Prix de Lithographie in 1973.
Professionally framed under glass in a slim brushed gold moulding with a black mat. From a private Portland, Oregon collection.
