The terracotta warrior army was first discovered near Xi'an in 1974 inside the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. Composed of an estimated 8,000 life sized statues, the terracotta army was intended to protect the emperor in the afterlife. Though each soldier is somewhat distinct, archaeologists have classified the terracotta warriors into different types, based on attire, position, and other notable characteristics.

The armor, hair style, and stance of this warrior identify him as a common soldier or armored warrior. It is the most common type of figure found in the tomb.

A stunning reproduction, this statue makes an excellent tabletop or outdoor decoration and serves as a powerful symbol of strength and dignity.

This statue has suffered some damages. A large piece has broken off of the left leg, part of which has been glued back on. There are also two minor chips on the back, one on the left shoulder and one on the underside of the right arm. See photos for details.
