For sale is a complete matching antique set of six (6) rare Victorian crescent-shaped bone dishes manufactured by J. & E. Mayer.
These elegant table accessories feature a beautiful scalloped rim and a cream-colored semi-vitreous ironstone body. The reverse of each dish bears the crisp, historic brown underglaze hallmark reading "Semi Vitreous China / J. & E. Mayer." Produced in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, these pieces date back to the late 19th century (circa 1881-1899).
Historically used at the Victorian dining table to hold discarded fish bones or trimmings, these crescent dishes make incredible catch-all vanity trays, soap dishes, or unique display accents for antique stoneware collectors today.
