this magnificent late 19th to early 20th century gothic revival freestanding dinner gong is an exceptional decorative and functional antique, beautifully crafted from solid oak with an elegant architectural design. Dating from around 1880–1910, it would have originally graced the entrance hall, dining room or library of a grand victorian or edwardian home.

the substantial oak frame features a gracefully arched top with finely carved gothic-inspired detailing to the shoulders and attractive trefoil motifs to the lower stretcher, all enhanced by a wonderfully rich, warm patina acquired over more than a century. Suspended at its centre is a beautifully hand-hammered silvered brass gong, which produces a deep, rich and resonant tone when struck. It is complete with a later wooden beater.
