In Italy, it was the Dolce … Read more We're in the midst of the mid-century, between the late 1950s and the mid-1970s. In Italy, it was the Dolce Vita era, a period of boudoir and bar accessories. They're often attributed to unbranded Italian production, but the style is very similar to that of Maison Charles, Maison Bagues.
Their purpose wasn't to serve, but to decorate: they were used on a dressing table for perfumes or jewelry, or in the living room as a pocket emptier or centerpiece tray. Today, they're also widely used as a base for candles on a dresser. See less
