A compelling acrylic on canvas titled "Remaining True" by Native American artist Marcus Cadman. Signed on the lower left as well as the verso. The painting combines traditional Indigenous imagery with contemporary social commentary. The central figure, depicted in ceremonial regalia and carrying a shield adorned with pictographic horse-and-rider motifs, stands before a backdrop of urban architecture and repeated currency imagery. Through this juxtaposition of ancestral symbolism and modern cultural references, Cadman explores themes of identity, heritage, resilience, and the preservation of Native traditions within contemporary society. Executed in the artist's distinctive style, the work reflects a powerful dialogue between past and present.
From a private collection. Dimensions: 28"h x 28"w x 1"d (stretched, unframed). In good vintage condition.
