A striking vintage Kittinger octagonal cocktail table featuring an original distressed gold-leaf tray-style top over a sculptural dark-finished faux-bamboo base. Model KT2408, this generously scaled table reflects Kittinger’s distinctive interpretation of Chinese Chippendale and Chinoiserie design.
The shaped octagonal top is finished in gold leaf with a wonderfully aged surface displaying variations in tone, craquelure, rubbing and wear developed over time. Rather than detracting from the piece, the naturally distressed finish gives the table tremendous decorative character and an authentic, collected appearance.
The architectural base is composed of eight faux-bamboo legs joined by corresponding stretchers, finished in a deep near-black tone with warm reddish undertones visible through areas of age and wear. The combination of the luminous aged-gold surface and dark bamboo-form base makes this an especially handsome statement piece.
The table retains an impressed Kittinger Furniture Co., Buffalo maker’s mark. A sophisticated and highly decorative Kittinger design with enough scale to anchor a substantial seating arrangement.
