Constructed of richly patinated wood, the rack features nine individual bottle openings arranged across three vertical panels and retains its wonderful original “Champagne Piper-Heidsieck – Reims • France” advertising plaque along the base. The rack incorporates a hinged wooden easel-style support on the reverse, allowing it to stand independently for display. Originally associated with Champagne bottle storage and presentation, today it makes an exceptional decorative piece for a wine cellar, home bar, restaurant, kitchen or collection of vintage French advertising. The naturally aged wood displays a beautiful warm brown surface with scratches, marks, variations in color and other evidence of decades of use. The original Piper-Heidsieck plaque shows corresponding age and wear, giving the piece the authentic character collectors look for rather than the appearance of a modern reproduction. Piper-Heidsieck is one of the historic Champagne houses of Reims, founded in 1785.
