The title translates to "The Crane Lying in 't IJ at de Kraan Sluys" and features text in both Dutch (De Kraan Laygende in 't Y at the Kraan Sluys) and French ( La Guindale, située dans le t' Y, proche l'Ecluse du Kraan). The engraving shows a waterfront scene with a sky filled with layered clouds, a large wooden crane structure on the left extending over the water, rows of buildings with gabled roofs along the right and background, several small boats and rowboats on the water with figures seated and rowing, wooden piers and docks with moored vessels, trees interspersed among the buildings, and fine linework shading throughout.
