Leopold Stickley was intrigued by the long, low lines of the midwestern earth hugging prairie homes. With such homes in mind he designed the prairie settle and chair.
The prairie designs exhibit horizontal extensions that go beyond their vertical support. Corbels, the graceful vertical members that support horizontal surfaces, are prevalent in prairie designs. The Mission Oak version includes the quadralinear post revealing the beauty of the ray flake on four sides of the post.
We purchased this set new in 1996. It is in excellent condition. We had the cushions re-upholstered two years ago. Health issue have us moving to our winter home in AZ full time.
