Cremer of paris, retaining its original barndoors, the hinged metal flaps once used to shape and control the spread of light on stage, a detail that has often gone missing over the decades and remains a rare survivor on a piece of this age.

a.e. Cremer was founded in paris around 1920 by andré cremer, later passed to his son william. Through the 1950s cremer spotlights lit the great parisian revues alongside film and television productions, at the height of paris as the center of european stage lighting. The fresnel lens design at the core of these fixtures adjusts by sliding the bulb closer to or further from the lens, allowing a single spotlight to throw either a tight beam or a soft flood.

the original convex glass lens survives alongside the satin black finish, worn honestly rather than restored. The fixture has been mounted on a genuine olive green bundeswehr wooden survey tripod, built to fold down for transport in the field. The original rear access door had been lost before the piece reached the workshop and has been replaced with a custom fabricated door matching the original design; all other elements, including the housing, lens, focus mechanism and barndoors, are original.

the spotlight measures 50 x 46 x 35 cm. Mounted on the tripod, the total height adjusts from 155 to 210 cm. The fixture has been rewired and fitted with a new e27 fitting, switch and approximately 3 meters of cable. This piece has an attribution mark,
