adb was founded in 1920 by adrien de backer. The company began by manufacturing electrical resistors before applying that technology to theatrical dimming, building the first light dimmer for the malines city theater, equipment that stayed in reliable service for more than forty years. In 1938 adb introduced its first dedicated spotlights and grew through the following decades into a manufacturer trusted by theaters, music halls and broadcast studios across the continent.

the sp.1000 represents the large end of adb's spotlight range, and the original beam-adjustment knob on the housing still functions, shifting the light from a tight spot to a broad flood.

the tripod is a wild heerbrugg gst10, from a company founded in 1921 in heerbrugg, switzerland by surveyor heinrich wild. Wild heerbrugg became a world leader in geodetic and photogrammetric instruments, and its legacy continues today as part of leica geosystems.

the spotlight measures 50 x 45 x 37 cm. Mounted on the tripod, the total height adjusts from 150 to 220 cm. The fixture has been rewired and fitted with an e27 socket, approximately 3 meters of cord and an inline switch. This piece has an attribution mark,
