A real theater spotlight. Belgian industrial history. One of a kind.
this original adb sp.5 theater spotlight was produced in belgium in the 1960s by ets a. Backer s.a., a company founded in zaventem in 1920 that grew into one of europe's most respected names in theatrical lighting before its acquisition by siemens in 1987. The sp.5 sat in the middle of adb's range, a 500 watt fixture built for stages needing genuine output without the bulk of the company's largest units.
the spotlight has been professionally rewired and mounted on a folding german army field tripod produced by ertel-werk of munich, a precision instrument maker with roots stretching back to 1802. The original beam-adjustment knob on the rear housing is still intact and functional, allowing the light to switch between flood and spot beam exactly as it did backstage.
the spotlight measures 40 x 33 x 30 cm. Mounted on the tripod, the total height adjusts from 120 to 165 cm. The fixture has been fitted with an e27 socket, approximately 3 meters of electrical cord, an inline switch and an eu plug, and is compatible with any standard bulb type including led. This piece has an attribution mark,
