Signed and dated at the bottom right, with the inscription 'a aet. Sua xxviii a.d. Mcmxxxix' (at the age of 28, year 1929). The bergamo artist giulio vito musitelli was a portraitist, landscapist, and a unique and sensitive painter of rural life. This self-portrait is part of his extensive portrait production characterized by a simplification and a fixity of gaze, and thus of the image, typical of novecento, the artistic movement born in milan in 1922 that promoted a return to classical art order.
