A charming original landscape painting by Aleksandr Stravin (b. 1960), titled Road to Killarney. The work depicts an idyllic village scene with a winding stone bridge, traditional architecture, a solitary figure, and colorful flowers in the foreground. Stravin’s loose, impressionistic brushwork and beautifully subdued palette give the scene a wonderfully atmospheric quality.
According to the artist biography retained on the verso, Aleksandr Stravin was born in Armavir in Russia’s Krasnodar region in 1960 and attended the prestigious Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in St. Petersburg. Although he painted throughout his life, Stravin began actively marketing his work after visiting Germany in the late 1980s, where he worked alongside other artists who were instrumental in bringing his work to prominence.
The accompanying biography notes that extensive travels throughout Europe and Asia influenced Stravin’s creativity and distinctive style. His work is characterized by subtle color, a loose impressionistic approach, and careful attention to detail—qualities beautifully represented in Road to Killarney. His repertoire encompasses both contemporary and traditional subjects, and his paintings have been acquired by corporate and private collectors worldwide.
The painting is presented in an elegant, traditional gold-tone frame with a wide gold/linen-style liner, giving the piece wonderful presence while maintaining its old-world character.
The verso retains the artist biography, handwritten title and identifying notations, as well as the original framing label.
A beautiful piece for a traditional, English country, collected, or layered interior—and particularly lovely styled in a library, study, living room, entryway, or as part of a gallery wall.
