The console features a long rectangular top with softly rounded front corners and a molded edge, giving the substantial form a refined, streamlined profile. Subtle vertical fluting wraps the front corners of the apron and introduces the geometric detailing repeated throughout the base. The most distinctive feature is the sculptural base, composed of two pairs of dramatically curved supports that flare outward as they descend. Each support is articulated with deep vertical fluting, emphasizing the sweeping lines and architectural quality of the design. The legs rise from a broad stepped plinth base with rounded ends, while a raised molded element runs along the center between the supports. The combination of curved forms, stepped construction, and strong vertical lines is characteristic of French Art Deco furniture of the 1930s. The walnut displays a rich, warm tone and attractive natural grain throughout. Its relatively narrow 15-inch depth makes the piece particularly well suited for use as an entry console, hallway table, or accent table where a more compact footprint is desired. We have structurally restored and fully refinished the table, ensuring it is solid and stable while preserving its period character. Minor imperfections remain consistent with age and use.
