An exquisite late 19th / early 20th century Italian hand-carved alabaster sculpture of a semi-nude classical female maiden seated on a naturalistic rock motif. Signed by renowned Florentine sculptor Eugenio Battiglia on the lower base: "E. Battiglia / Scultore / Firenze".
Comes complete with a tall, beautifully veined turned marble/alabaster pedestal column, creating a commanding floor-standing display.
Overall good antique condition with rich, natural patina and translucency.
• Note: Missing finger on the figure's left hand, and missing toe on the figure's left foot (see photos for close-up detail).
• Expected minor surface wear, subtle nibbles, and age-appropriate natural inclusions in the stone.
• Pedestal column currently separates into three pieces. Pieces can be sealed together for more stability.
Dimensions are 24" high sculpture, 30" high pedestal, 54" high combined. Pedestal is 10.5" wide at the base.
