A vintage Chinese figural sculpture depicting a standing goose or duck, executed in painted chalkware with inset glass eyes and dating to the mid-20th century. The bird is modeled standing upon a naturalistic rocky base with finely incised feather detail and a hand-painted finish. The expressive form and restrained palette reflect decorative export wares produced for the Western market during the post-war period.
The sculpture is formed in chalkware with a matte painted surface rather than a glazed ceramic finish. Features include molded feather detailing, inset glass eyes, hand-painted coloration, and an integral textured base.
