Antique Cherry Hepplewhite Five-Drawer Chest of Drawers, Pennsylvania or Maryland, Circa 1800-1810
A well-proportioned Federal-period Hepplewhite chest in cherry, with yellow pine and white pine as secondary woods. The case is configured with two split upper drawers over three graduated long drawers, each fitted with diamond-shaped inlaid escutcheons. French bracket feet complete the classic Hepplewhite silhouette.
The drawers are constructed with white pine sides and yellow pine bottoms and backboards, consistent with regional Mid-Atlantic cabinetmaking practice of the period. A warm, refinished cherry surface throughout.
Condition notes: refinished, with replaced brass hardware. Two small repairs to the rear feet. Use and wear marks consistent with age.

A handsome and functional Federal-era chest with honest, well-documented construction.
