In countries like Uzbekistan, it was almost the old national costume. This Uzbek chapan was made from a finely woven ikat cotton fabric. It showcases a brilliant color palette and bedazzling patterns. Tailored to symmetrically display the striking ikat motifs, the garment was hand-sewn and lined and dated to 1930-50s. The robe was lined interiorly with a bright floral cotton, and the edges of the frontal opening and sleeves were all rimmed with ribbon. The workmanship was refined and detailed.
The chapan can be enjoyed hanging on a wall as a piece of textile art, but it could also be worn as a bespoken long jacket. See less
