This handsomely bound volume collects six issues of Baily's Magazine of Sports and Pastimes — Nos. 755 through 760, covering January through June 1923 — published in London by Vinton and Co., Limited. Founded in 1860, Baily's chronicled the world of fox hunting, horse racing, cricket, shooting, and the broader life of British field sport during its golden age, and remains a favorite among collectors of sporting literature.
The volume opens with a fine photogravure portrait of cricketer J. B. Hobbs as its frontispiece. It is bound in half brown leather over richly marbled paper boards, the spine tooled in gilt with raised bands, a crown-and-cypher device, and a maroon morocco label lettered "Baily's Magazine" and "Vol. 119." Triangular black leather corner guards protect the boards.
