. At this time, I am beginning to list my collection of blue and white antique Imari, some colored Japanese antique imari rice/soup bowls with lids and some Chinese antique porcelains.
. This special plate with detailed hand painting is from circa 1830...end of Edo Period (1603-1868)
. It is the Fuyode traditional blue and white porcelain style featuring a paneled, petal-like border that resembles the blossoms of the fuyo (confederate rose or hibiscus) flower. The design originated from late Ming Dynasty private kilns in Jingdezhen, China.
. Then, copied extensively by Hizen kilns in Arita, Japan during the Edo period.
. It was exported in large quantities to Europe, where it became heavily collected by royalty and aristicrats.
. The intricate geometric borders and various patterns showcase the skilled craftsmanship typical of
Edo period.
. Collectors have been drawn to the historic significance, the artistry of the detailed hand-painted design and its decorative appeal.
