The rich dark … Read more A substantial handcrafted wooden vase decorated with elaborate geometric bands of mother-of-pearl and iridescent natural shell inlay.

The rich dark brown wood provides a dramatic background for multiple individually designed mosaic bands incorporating checkerboard, lattice and complex geometric motifs. Iridescent shell elements reflect tones of ivory, silver, blush, green and gold.

The craftsmanship and decorative medium are consistent with Middle Eastern/Egyptian-style inlaid woodwork, although the piece is unsigned and its exact origin and age are unknown.

Measuring approximately 12 inches tall yet weighing nearly five pounds, the vase has an unexpectedly substantial presence and displays beautifully as a standalone decorative object.

Approximately 12”H × 6”W at widest point (30.5 cm x 15.25 cm). Opening approximately 3.25” (8.3 cm) diameter. Weight approximately 4 lb. 15 oz (6.8 kg).
